DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Julia was
located near latitude 31.1 North, longitude 75.6 West. Julia is
moving toward the east-southeast near 7 mph (11 km/h). A slow and
erratic motion offshore of the coast of South Carolina is expected
during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Little change in strength is forecast today, but gradual weakening
is anticipated after that time. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane
Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate Julia this afternoon.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb (29.77 inches).

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Ian
was located near latitude 48.8 North, longitude 36.2 West. The
post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the northeast near 53 mph (85
km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through tonight, with
a decrease in forward speed expected on Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher
gusts. The post-tropical cyclone should gradually weaken over the
next 36 hours before becoming absorbed by an extratropical low.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 240 miles (390 km)
from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches).
