AT 4 PM CDT...2100 UTC...THE HURRICANE WARNING IS EXTENDED NORTHWARD
ALONG THE TEXAS COAST TO HIGH ISLAND. A HURRICANE WARNING IS NOW
IN EFFECT ALONG THE TEXAS COAST FROM BAFFIN BAY TO HIGH ISLAND.

AT 4 PM CDT...2100 UTC...THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS EXTENDED
EASTWARD ALONG THE LOUISIANA COAST TO INTRACOASTAL CITY.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT NORTH OF HIGH ISLAND
TEXAS TO INTRACOASTAL CITY LOUISIANA.

A HURRICANE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT SOUTH OF BAFFIN BAY TO
BROWNSVILLE TEXAS.

AT 4 PM CDT...2100Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM CLAUDETTE WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 27.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 93.1 WEST OR ABOUT
255 MILES EAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS. THIS IS ALSO ABOUT 160
MILES SOUTHEAST OF GALVESTON TEXAS.

CLAUDETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 7 MPH. A TURN
TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 12 HOURS.
THE CENTER OF CLAUDETTE IS EXPECTED TO BE NEAR THE TEXAS COAST BY
TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 65 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME
STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...AND CLAUDETTE
COULD BECOME A HURRICANE TONIGHT OR TUESDAY. SEVERAL OIL RIGS IN
THE GULF OF MEXICO HAVE REPORTED HURRICANE-FORCE WINDS A FEW
HUNDRED FEET ABOVE THE SURFACE DURING THE PAST FEW HOURS.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 140 MILES FROM THE
CENTER.

THE LATEST MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE REPORTED BY AN NOAA HURRICANE
HUNTER AIRCRAFT IS 989 MB...29.21 INCHES.

STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS...
ACCOMPANIED BY LARGE AND DANGEROUS BATTERING WAVES...CAN BE
EXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA NEAR AND TO THE NORTH OF WHERE THE
CENTER CROSSES THE COAST. SWELLS ARE NOW IMPACTING THE SHORELINES
ALONG THE TEXAS COAST AND ARE CREATING ABOVE NORMAL TIDES AND
DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS.

STORM TOTAL RAINFALL OF 5 TO 8 INCHES IS POSSIBLE IN ASSOCIATION
WITH CLAUDETTE.
