TEXAS AND ALSO FROM LA PESCA MEXICO NORTHWARD TO THE U.S. BORDER.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NORTH OF BAFFIN BAY
TO PORT O'CONNOR.
AT 4 AM CDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ERIKA WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 25.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 97.0 WEST OR ABOUT 45
MILES...70 KM...SOUTHEAST OF BROWNSVILLE TEXAS.
ERIKA IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 18 MPH...30 KM/HR...AND THIS
MOTION IS EXPECTED TO BRING THE STORM INLAND DURING THE NEXT
SEVERAL HOURS.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 70 MPH...110 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. ERIKA IS VERY CLOSE TO HURRICANE STRENGTH AND ALL
PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE CONTINUED UNTIL THE STORM MOVES INLAND AND
BEGINS TO WEAKEN LATER THIS MORNING.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 994 MB...29.35 INCHES.
STORM SURGE FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BE 3 TO 6 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE
LEVELS...ALONG WITH LARGE BATTERING WAVES...NEAR AND TO THE NORTH OF
WHERE THE CENTER CROSSES THE COAST.
RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER
AMOUNTS...CAN BE EXPECTED NEAR THE PATH OF ERIKA. THIS COULD CAUSE
FLASH FLOODS...AND MUDSLIDES IN AREAS NEAR ELEVATED TERRAIN.
